"We are growing serious and, let me tell you, that's the very next step to being dull." -- Addison
250--California: Go Climb a Rock, Indoor Climbing Gyms
@ CherieSpotting

Cherie dangles upside down at an indoor rock climbing gym. This is yoga for the adventurous! | Kids, don't try this at home. Tracy does the "crouching tiger." | Greg does the "upside down monkey." Very tricky. |
Ian barely stops to look back. | Right foot to little blue thing. | Cherie. I'm not glowing, it's sweat. |
Tracy takes a moment before she makes her ascent to the top. | She made it! It must have been the meditation. | How fast can you scramble to the top? |
That's never a flattering angle. | Ooops! Good thing Ian caught her! | Why go to an indoor rock climbing gym? Because it accentuates your "package." |
Greg! | No hands! | Fun or exercise? You decide. |
Ian does the "fuzzy spider" limited to rock climbing gurus and Ian. | You can let me down now! | Greg, on his way up. |
Climbing wall or modern art? | You're almost there! | This move is called "endangered species." If Tracy does it much longer, she'll become one. |
cherie writes: I’m getting ready to trek through Asia for a few months. What better way to prepare than a local Indoor Climbing Gym? Indoor climbing is also a great activity to do when it rains or gets dark too early!
Popping up all over the world, these climbing gyms combine exercise, fun (and trust—"Don’t drop me!") So face your fear of heights—get out there and go climb a rock!
As Oprah said, “It is confidence in our bodies, minds and spirits that allows us to keep looking for new adventures, new directions to grow in, and new lessons to learn - which is what life is all about.”
There are dozens of these gyms in California and hundreds all over the world.
Usually these gyms will give you a quick course on how to belay someone and then charge a fee (usually about $15) to use the gym for a day.
Local gyms include: The Rock Gym (Long Beach), Rockreation (Costa Mesa) and ClimbX (Huntington Beach). To see a list of climbing gyms worldwide go to http://www.indoorclimbing.com/worldgyms.html
