"A verbal contract isn't worth the paper it's written on." -- Samuel Goldwyn
220--California: Muddy Birthday
@ CherieSpotting
Jun 20 2004 - 11:18 PST |
Jean and Cherie crack up at Glen Ivy Hot Springs. "Don't make me laugh! I'm cracking!" | Sherry, Cherie and Jean spend the day relaxing in the pools and gardens of Glen Ivy Hot Springs. | Sherry and Jean prepare to get dirty. (Why is mud so expensive?) |
Here's to mud in your eye! | This means war! | Why is being dirty so much fun? |
We're monsters. | That's one way to get a tan. | Relax and let the mud leech the impurities out of your skin. |
Jean and Cherie. | Muddy girls have more fun. | Time to rinse off. Jean takes a shower. |
Now we slather our bodies in green goop. | Jean and Sherry. | Green stripes. It's the latest fashion. |
That expensive green mask cleaned out my pores and left me with acne. | The things we ladies do in the name of beauty. | The witches of Glen Ivy. |
Scary. Very Scary. | Believe it or not, I ate the whole cake! | You know you have a great life when its hard to think of something to wish for. |
cherie writes: Some people celebrate their birthdays once a year. I prefer to celebrate mine for as long as my friends and family will tolerate. So far, the entire month of June has been one giant birthday party.
But life isn’t all about parties and happiness doesn’t come from having fun. As I grow older, I find myself becoming more down to earth. In fact this year I was extra earthy and found myself covered in mud.
Jean, Sherry and I headed out to Glen Ivy Hot Springs in California to celebrate my birthday. There we soaked in mineral baths, steamed away our worries, and covered ourselves in mud and other slimy substances.
If we search for inner happiness, it would be wise to remember the words Herodotus spoke almost 2500 years ago: “If a man insisted always on being serious, and never allowed himself a bit of fun and relaxation, he would go mad.”
And you have to trust a guy with a name like Herodotus. Sometimes, you just have to get muddy and laugh until your stomach hurts.
