188--Tortola: Mardi Gras at the Bat Cave
@ CherieSpotting
Feb 25 2004 - 17:07 PST |
Fat Tuesday--Island Syle. | John, the owner of the Bat Cave, in Tortola, BVI. | What did she do to earn all those beads? |
A smile on every side. | Those are women's panties on Milo's head. | The bigger the beads...the better. |
Dan, Patty and Milo. | On vacation. | Joe is as happy as his hat. |
Look at those legs. | I could use those beads to decorate my Christmas Tree next year. | Patty and Dan. |
Who's that masked man? | Can she see through those feathers? | Beads anyone? |
Cherie gets behind the bar. | Luke, with the ladies. | Crazy guys. |
The Dutch Boys. | The butterfly man. | No one is having any fun here. |
cherie writes: Mardi Gras isn’t just in New Orleans anymore. Tortola’s favorite bar—the Bat Cave—celebrated Fat Tuesday in style.
Sailors, locals and tourists showed up in feathers and masks to collect beads from each other. Some were so slathered in beads you couldn’t see their necks. I got beads as big as Christmas ornaments and draped them around my neck. If you’re going to celebrate Fat Tuesday—go big!
Mardi Gras 2004 was a night of feathered masks, crazy glasses, spicy jambalaya, and silly fun. Everyone dressed up. I wore a mask of feathers, Joe wore the “happy hat” and Milo wore a silky pair of underwear like a toupee.
