Greg put on his lederhosen (which means leather trousers in German) but sadly they were made of felt since we rented the lederhosen from a costume shop. I dressed up like a German girl, we grabbed some friends and prepared to drink and eat as many pretzels as we could. 5.9 Million people visited Oktoberfest in Munich 2002. There wasn't quite that many people at Old World, but the place was packed. Out of the five choices of beer, only two of them were German beers. When we walked in, the band was playing Ricky Martin and we saw people gulping their malted beverages out of plastic cups. Other than that, it was quite similar to being in Munich--lots of beer, people, beer, dancing, beer and fun. (And more beer!) Lederhosen and electric guitars? Greg puts another feather in his cap. Plenty of pretzels. The gangs all here! A few of the boys. German friends. Chris and Paqui. Lisa and Dan, brother and sister. Cherie and Greg, looking German, yah? Lisa, Chris and Cherie with the green guys. Oktoberfest is full of silly green hats! Greg with a couple of $7 beers. It's hard to look serious in lederhosen. Cherie gets a hold of the microphone (good thing they turned it off.) All the ladies were after Greg. Who can argue with a man in leather shorts? It's the simple things in life, a good beer, a warm smile and a green suit. Why don't we serve beer by the liter all year round? The whiskers let you soak up more beer and then save it for later. Those German women can carry a lot of beers!
